Royal Thai Air Force confirms selection of Saab Gripen E/F

The Royal Thai Air Force today confirmed the selection of Saab’s Gripen E/F as its future multirole fighter. Saab and the Swedish Defence Materiel istration (FMV) will now pursue the next steps in the procurement process with Thailand.

To date, Saab has not signed any contracts or received any orders in connection with this announcement.

In addition to the Gripen E/F fighter and associated equipment, Saab’s proposal includes a long-term offset package. This will benefit Thailand’s national security and strategic independence, as well as generate new jobs and investment for various sectors of Thai society. Details have not yet been finalized.

“We are delighted that the Royal Thai Air Force has selected the Gripen E/F as its future fighter aircraft. We look forward to the next steps in this acquisition process. The Gripen E/F is the best option to ensure Thailand’s independent air power in the future, making a significant contribution to the country’s security and defence,” said Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab. Thailand has operated the Gripen C/D since 2011.
