Currently, LATAM is the airline that most connects Brazil with Chile, currently responsible for 70% of the volume of engers traveling by plane between the two countries, according to ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency). The company's other direct flights to Santiago depart from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Florianópolis and Porto Alegre. In international operations in Ceará, LATAM also already operates the Fortaleza-Miami route.

The Fortaleza-Santiago flight will always be operated on Saturdays and the Santiago-Fortaleza return flights on Sundays, with an average duration of 6h30. It will take off at 14:45 pm (local time) from Fortaleza and 6:50 am (local time) from Santiago. Compared to a trip connecting at Guarulhos airport (São Paulo), the new route will reduce the average travel time between the capital of Ceará and Chile by three hours.
