LATAM Cargo, the cargo of the LATAM Group, will increase its weekly transportation capacity between São Paulo and Manaus by 11% during the peak holiday season, compared to October. This is because, to meet the increase in demand between November 18 and December 22, LATAM will have 11 instead of 10 weekly flights from São Paulo to Manaus, 8 from Guarulhos and 3 from Viracopos. In addition, there will be 9 instead of 8 flights per week from Manaus to São Paulo, all to Guarulhos.
All flights will be operated by Boeing 767 cargo aircraft with a capacity of over 50 tons per flight. Auto parts, perishable foods and clothing are the main products transported from São Paulo to Manaus, while electronic materials are the main items shipped from the capital of Amazonas to the capital of São Paulo.
"In practice, we are adding more than 100 tons of capacity per week in this important year-end operation, which has a direct impact on the entire national logistics sector and helps other industries to safely and quickly meet their deadlines and business commitments with their customers. We will also remain vigilant to new demands and capacity if they are required by the market.” says Otávio Meneguette, director of LATAM Cargo Brazil.
LATAM is the leading airline in the air cargo market in the capital of Amazonas, according to the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). From January to September this year, more than 33,7 thousand tons of cargo were transported to/from the location.
Currently, LATAM also operates regular flights on the Guarulhos-Recife-Manaus and Guarulhos-Belém-Manaus routes, both inaugurated this year.
LATAM CARGO INVESTS IN BRAZIL
In 2023, LATAM Cargo launched the Miami-Brasília, Miami-São José dos Campos and Amsterdam-Curitiba routes. In addition, it expanded the operation of its Miami-Florianópolis cargo route, launched in 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, from two to three weekly flights.
In April, the company also expanded its cargo operations to Manaus from Guarulhos and Viracopos airports from 6 to 9 weekly flights, a 30% increase in capacity compared to the previous year. In the same month, it launched an unprecedented cargo route between Europe and Florianópolis, becoming the only airline to operate this route, which facilitates the transport of international cargo between Europe and Santa Catarina and opens doors for international trade with Brazil.
In May of this year, LATAM Cargo inaugurated domestic operations of the weekly cargo flight Guarulhos-Recife-Manaus, which increased the company's capacity (measured in ATK¹) in the capital of Pernambuco by 62,5% compared to April. All of these operations are carried out by Boeing 767-300F cargo aircraft with the capacity to carry more than 50 tons per flight.
In July, the company began operating cargo via the lower compartment of its enger aircraft in Vitória da Conquista, Bahia. In the same month, it expanded the operation of the Miami-São José dos Campos cargo route from two to three weekly flights.
In July, LATAM Cargo presented its new product portfolio for domestic flights in Brazil. With four new services (Reserved, Fast, Standard and éFácil) and the possibility of combining them with specific care, it offers more options and a better experience to its customers who need to transport goods within the country according to their needs.
In addition to having the entire LATAM Brasil fleet and air network, LATAM Cargo currently flies to 164 destinations in 31 countries, 15 of which are exclusive to cargo. Specifically in Brazil, it serves 50 destinations and connects the country with another 19 abroad. Around the world, the LATAM group's cargo s have a fleet of 22 Boeing 767-300F and Boeing 767-300BCF cargo aircraft.
In 2024, it is worth highlighting that LATAM's Brazilian operation is expected to grow by 7% to 8% in ASK (Available Seat Kilometers), which is also reflected in the increase in capacity for transporting cargo in the lower compartments of enger aircraft flying in the domestic market.
