Qatar Airways and Boeing sign agreement to purchase 160 aircraft

During Donald Trump's visit to Doha on Wednesday (14), Qatar Airways and Boeing signed an agreement to acquire 160 Boeing planes for 200 billion dollars.

Trump and Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani attended the g between Boeing Chief Executive Robert Ortberg and the airline's CEO Badr Mohammed al-Meer at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha.

Donald Trump hailed the deal as a historic purchase, both for the number of planes and the value involved in the deal.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani signed a defense agreement, while the Emir of Qatar and Trump signed a t statement.

“I believe that, with the g of these documents, we are reaching another level in the relationship between Qatar and the United States,” said the Emir of Qatar in a statement.

Trump was accompanied by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his Treasury counterparts Scott Bessent, Commerce Howard Lutnick and Middle East special envoy Steve Witkoff.

The White House leader said he spoke with Al-Thani about Iran and was confident the nuclear deal “will work” as part of negotiations to keep Tehran free of atomic bombs.

Trump did not say whether he had received an offer from Qatar to use a super-luxury Boeing 747-8 as Air Force One, which he could keep for personal use after leaving the White House.

The US president is visiting a US air base in Al-Udeid, the largest in the Middle East, on Thursday and suggested an aircraft demonstration there.
