Safran to showcase anti-drone system at LAAD 2025 in Rio de Janeiro

Safran skyjacker

Safran Electronics & Defense will present in Brazil the SKYJACKER solution – an anti-drone system developed for use by the Armed Forces and security agencies on battlefields and sensitive installations.
One of SKYJACKER's main differentiators is its exclusive spoofing capability: the technology alters the drone's trajectory by simulating GNSS signals, directing it towards a designated target and neutralizing the threat.
Combined with radar detection and optronic identification, this technology can effectively defeat individual drones and drone swarms in both land and naval environments, mitigating potential attacks. Furthermore, it is also capable of neutralizing remotely piloted drones at ranges of one to ten kilometers, offering advanced protection in critical operations.

Safran will also showcase its UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) solutions, highlighting the PATROLLER and LANNER. The PATROLLER is a certified, long-endurance, multi-purpose tactical UAV designed for intelligence, surveillance and target acquisition missions. It is ideally suited for external military operations, homeland security and maritime surveillance. Notably, the PATROLLER is the first UAS in the world to be formally certified to NATO STANAG 4671, a major milestone that allows it to operate over densely populated areas.

LANNER is a new generation of lightweight tactical UAS with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL), with a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 50 kg. It has been developed to meet a wide range of missions, including ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance) and land and maritime surveillance. Its modular multi-payload capability enables precise identification and designation of fixed and moving targets. Its VTOL functionality allows it to operate on very small surfaces, minimizing the risk of detection.

CELEBRATION

In addition to introducing new products to Brazil, Safran will also celebrate its successful partnership with HBR Aviação during the event. Safran supplies HBR with the EUROFLIR 410 high-precision electro-optical system that equips Robinson R66 helicopters to serve the Brazilian market.

The EUROFLIR 410 is an airborne optronic system from Safran Eletrocnics & Defense adapted to the needs of all types of aerial platforms – helicopters, aircraft, aerostats and drones. The equipment offers unparalleled observation performance thanks to the integration of ten sensors, a long-range telescope and high-performance line-of-sight stabilization. Day or night, in any weather conditions, it can be used for intelligence, surveillance, targeting, protection, intervention (ISR/ISTAR) or search and rescue (SAR) missions.

“The year 2025 marks the centenary of Safran Electronics & Defense, and one of the milestones we are proud of is the success of the partnerships we have established around the world. In Brazil, it is no different: we have a solid partnership with the national industry, strengthening our presence in the Brazilian market and paving the way for future sales. The EUROFLIR family is one of the products that exemplifies this trajectory. In addition, we will highlight our simulator, providing LAAD visitors with an immersive experience to get to know the precision and superiority of the EUROFLIR 410 up close. This is the perfect opportunity to understand how this cutting-edge technology can transform civil and military air operations”, highlighted David Montmasson, CEO of Safran Electronics & Defense Brazil.

Among the many innovations developed by the group, other products will be on display at the event. Aimed at the Navy, VIGY is an electro-optical surveillance and reconnaissance system that combines high-resolution cameras and advanced sensors, allowing for the monitoring and identification of targets in maritime environments with high precision.
VIGY is designed to be integrated into naval platforms such as ships and vessels, providing long-range surveillance, even in adverse conditions such as bad weather or at night. It uses thermal imaging technology and high-definition cameras to detect, track and identify targets, making it ideal for security missions, maritime traffic control, and protection against threats such as unidentified vessels or drones.

Safran also offers GEONYX, the most compact INS (Inertial Navigation System) in its performance class. This inertial navigation system is designed to operate independently of external signals such as GPS, making it essential for environments where navigation signals may be interrupted or unavailable, such as in military missions or in hard-to-reach areas.

Safran will be present at stand D20, with executives from Safran Electronics & Defense Brazil and Safran Electronics & Defense ().
