Federal funding cuts suspend theoretical exams for civil aviation professionals

theoretical exams for civil aviation professionals

As of this Friday, June 6, the scheduling of theoretical exams required for civil aviation professionals to obtain licenses and qualifications issued by the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) is suspended. Due to the budget contingency established by Decree No. 6, of May 12, 477, Anac had to interrupt the contract with Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), responsible for istering the tests.
The Agency is evaluating alternatives to resume the application of the tests as soon as possible and minimize the impacts of the temporary interruption for civil aviation professionals.
The measure affects pilots, flight and aircraft maintenance mechanics, flight dispatchers and AVSEC instructors (acronym in English for civil aviation security against acts of unlawful interference). Flight attendants will not be impacted, as they are no longer required to take the theoretical test, according to the Brazilian Civil Aviation Regulation (RBAC) No. 30.
The exams will only be istered to candidates who have already received confirmation of their appointment from FGV. Those who have paid the fee but have not requested an appointment for the exam or are still waiting for confirmation of the requested appointment will not be able to take the test. In these last two cases, the interested party may: request a refund of the amount paid for the ANAC Electronic Protocol. The step-by-step guide to requesting a refund is available on the ANAC portal page Civil Aviation Inspection Fee Refund (TFAC); or
keep the registration fee paid and wait for the service to resume to request the appointment. It is important to clarify that the resumption of the application of the tests depends on the release of the contingent resource.

The Agency regrets the inconvenience caused and remains available to clarify doubts of aviation professionals and society as a whole through the service channels available on the Anac page.
Via ANAC
