Globalia returns to show interest in opening Low Cost airline in Brazil

The Minister of Tourism, Gilson Machado Neto, met this Saturday (08.05), in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), with the president of Globalia Corporacion Empresarial, Juan José Hidalgo.

During the meeting, Machado Neto discussed partnerships and possibilities for promoting Brazil through the agencies of the Spanish group, which is present in more than 20 countries and has thousands of employees in services in all segments of tourism.

The Minister of Tourism, Gilson Machado Neto, highlighted the country's potential and reinforced the great opportunity for opening a new airline in national territory.

“A month ago, Brazil privatized 22 airports with an over of 18 times the amount requested at the beginning. We have a very large capacity and we will have a very strong recovery in tourism”, said.

The president of Embratur, Carlos Brito, ratified the importance of investment for the promotion of Brazil and the condition for the country to be a protagonist in the post-pandemic.

“We have tourism to please all types of visitors and we are sure that partnerships with other countries will make us even more prepared”, said.

For Juan José “Pepe” Hidalgo, president of Globalia, there is no other country in Latin America with more strength to attract foreign tourists than Brazil and he highlighted the importance of promoting Brazilian destinations not only in Spain, but throughout Europe.

For Pepe, if there is from the Brazilian government, the group will work to take an airline to fly in the country.

“If they manage to have a low-cost company, Brazil would have a new strong airline”, he said.

Globalia has been interested in opening a Low Cost company in Brazil since 2019, when the first conversations began with the Brazilian government. The company is currently ing on the Air Europa for Iberia, through a billion dollar sale.
