The change is due to the extinction, at least temporarily, of the additional boarding fee charge, in the amount of US$ 18 (R$ 96). Charging this fee made the international departure tax cost more than R$ 130 at all airports in the country.

As a result, Low Costs flights to Latin American countries, with tickets for up to US$ 29, were hampered by the expensive boarding fee. The measure is precisely to encourage Low Costs flights, even international ones in the country.

The surcharge was not ed on to the Airport concessionaire. On the contrary, the fare was in a government fund to encourage aviation.

According to a publication by the Minister of Transport, Tarcísio Freitas, this change should be permanent, contrary to some measures of the law approved today.
