While some of the traditional airlines in South and Latin America shrink their operations, or slowly resume, JetSmart bets on a minimum market agility.
The low-cost airline is accelerating its resumption of flights, and weeks ago declared that it will launch domestic flights in Peru. The market movement is to take advantage of a space left by Avianca Peru, which ended its operations.
The challenge now is to compete with LATAM Peru, which is currently facing judicial recovery. JetSmart already operates flights in Chile, and has a branch in Argentina.
But in JetSmart's new plans are the markets of Brazil and Colombia. She is currently analyzing entry into the domestic aviation market in these two countries.
In this case, JetSmart can take advantage of the space of two companies that are in judicial recovery, Avianca and LATAM, and reformulate all its operations, even reducing flights.
JetSmart CEO Estuardo Ortiz said of the company's interest in Colombia and Brazil:
"We are planning to accelerate our expansion based on how the market recovers and we are in a good position to do so."

Despite only having 17 planes in total, JetSmart is backed by the Indigo Partners group. This group is responsible for managing successful airlines such as Frontier and IndiGo, the latter of which is forcing a reformulation of the country's classic airlines, even leading to the bankruptcy of Jet Airways.
IndiGo, in turn, placed an order for more than 500 aircraft of the Airbus A320neo model, used on short and medium-haul flights. In Brazil, LATAM and Azul use aircraft of the same model.
In a note to Portal Aeroflap in the last week of July, JetSmart said:
JetSMART is constantly exploring new opportunities and new markets, as it understands that low-cost aviation has an unmet demand in South America, a region where there is a great need for connectivity and decentralization.
Currently, JetSMART operates domestic flights in Chile and Argentina and, internationally, it is present in Colombia, Brazil and Peru, which makes it an airline with the objective of connecting all families in Latin America.
In July, JetSMART decided to start the certification process for domestic flights in Peru and continues to closely analyze markets such as Brazil and Colombia.
The company classifies the potential for domestic flights in these two countries as relevant, but Peru is undoubtedly the main focus for the company at this time with the aim of developing a local airline. For the time being, the company's efforts are also focused on consolidating its domestic operations in Chile and Argentina.
JetSMART has a young and modern fleet of aircraft, currently comprising 17 aircraft, of which six are the modern Airbus A320neo. The company's goal is to make air transport accessible to everyone on the continent at ultra-low prices at all times.
At the same time, to protect the safety of its engers, JetSMART has developed a strict hygiene and biosecurity protocol called the SMART Commitment, which consists of a series of measures taken before, during and after the flight, and which are established in accordance with all the requirements defined by IATA, ICAO, Airbus and WHO.
