LATAM Cargo Brasil, the cargo of the LATAM Group, revealed during Intermodal South America 2024 that it will initially offset more than 5 thousand tons of CO2 in partnership with the companies Brix Cargo and Unicargo. These are the first customers of Brazil's cargo business in the “1+1: Compensar para Conservar” program, which aims to offset emissions from flights.
In a long-term commitment, customers will offset 2,5 tons of CO2 in the region, an amount that doubles to 5 tons thanks to LATAM Cargo's contribution, thus covering all emissions generated by Brix Cargo cargo shipments and Unicargo during 2023. In line with its sustainability program, the LATAM group guarantees that its cargo customers will only be responsible for offsetting 50% of their emissions, while the cargo company will be responsible for offsetting the other half. The companies' contribution will benefit certified projects that seek to conserve strategic ecosystems in South America.
